1 ½ cups broccoli florets, steamed

1 ½ cups cauliflower, steamed

½ red onion, diced

6 slices bacon, crumbled

Directions:

Recipe tips:

  • For a unique twist, swap out the lemon juice with apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar to create a different flavor profile.

  • For added texture, add sunflower seeds or chopped almonds to the salad.

Broccoli and cauliflower florets

Health benefits of broccoli and cauliflower

In addition to being delicious and versatile, this Keto Broccoli Cauliflower Salad is rich in nutrients thanks to its star ingredients, broccoli and cauliflower.

Broccoli is a rich source of vitamins C and K, folate, and antioxidants, including sulforaphane, which may help protect against chronic diseases.

Moreover, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), 100 grams of broccoli contains just seven grams of carbs and three grams of fiber.

"Fiber plays a crucial role in supporting digestive health and promoting feelings of fullness while also lowering the net carb count of foods," explains Dr. Berg. "This is because fiber isn’t fully digested and won’t impact blood sugar or insulin levels."

This is great news for those following a low-carb diet such as Healthy Keto®, as the fiber-rich ingredients in this salad contribute to a satisfying meal while maintaining ketosis and fat-burning.

Cauliflower is a nutritional powerhouse loaded with vitamin C and choline crucial for brain health, as well as glucosinolates that possess potent anti-inflammatory properties.

A study published in Biochemistry Research International found cauliflower to be associated with a reduced risk of various health issues, including cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

Incorporating these cruciferous vegetables into your diet is an excellent strategy to obtain essential nutrients and promote a healthy body.
