I'm currently 74 years old. 3 years ago i got West Nile Virus, and that eventually lead to encephalitis. I had terrible headaches, nauseous most of the day. Couldn't ride in the car. Basically only left the house to go to doctor appointments. Only pleasure was eating unhealthy food.. I am 6'1" and weighed 190 before WNV. After four months of inactivity and poor diet, my weight rose to 198.6.lbs. Never that heavy before. I joined a gym and started a low carb diet which had worked before to lose weight. I kept seeing on TV and on the web this "Keto" thing. Had no idea what it was, but I researched a little and thought, this could be for me. For me, it was easy. I was enthusiastic. No sugar (that was a little difficult at first, but found substitutes), virtually zero carbs and lots of meat! After a couple of weeks, the pounds start to melt away. Got super enthused and the weight loss momentum seem to accelerate. Within 2 months I was down to 170-175. Now I' m 165. My triglycerides are 45! Now with the help of Dr. Berg I've refined my diet. Now, i have added, nutritional yeast, broccoli sprouts, fish row, avocados, bone broth and other forms of collagen to my diet of 3 eggs and scrapple or bacon for every breakfast, salmon 2-3 times a week, steak, ground beef and salads. I'm also on a 16-8 eating schedule of 2 meals a day. The result: looking at my peers, I'm a kid. I have incredible energy, no, i mean no joint pain and an incredible enthusiasm and bright outlook on life, sadly unlike my peers. I do weights every other day, play golf 2-3 times a week, go to the range and hit a large bucket of balls daily weather permitting. My game has improved and again, my peers caution me of over doing it, again sad. Clearly main stream nutritionists are upside down regarding health and longevity. Congrats to Dr. Berg for his seemingly daily advice and tips. I applaud his courage and depth of research.
