Weight loss in nursing home
By: Carl James Wysocki
My name is Carl James Wysocki, I am 59 years old and I am long term in a nursing home in Warren MI. I used to weigh 512 pounds and was raised in a family struggling with obesity. I started gaining weight when I was about 23 years old. I used to eat a lot of sweets and processed foods. I suffered from Hypertension, diabetes, obesity and Massive lymph-edema. I've lived long term at the Mission Point nursing home for almost 2 years and I l0st 124 pounds so far. I used to weigh 512 pounds and now I weigh 388. What I did was I stopped eating most of the carbs on my food tray. I would drink the milk and eat the fruit, but I limited that to no more than once a day at breakfast. I completely eliminated the cookies, cakes, candy, pies, pastries and such. I sometimes would eat the pasta and potatoes but very sparingly. I follow all of the Dr Burg videos and have learned a lot. I couldn't walk when I got here. I was using a wheelchair. I started exercising by walking. I walked for short distances but now I no longer need a wheelchair and walk all over the facility. I was a diabetic and when my doctor discovered my diabetes 20 years ago I was addicted to candy and my sugar was 1100.. I almost slipped into a coma. For the past 3 months I have not needed or taken any insulin and the nurses check my sugar only once in the morning now. My blood pressure is lowered now and the doctors may take away some or all of my blood pressure medications. I am still continuing my new lifestyle and I will not look back. I have accomplished a lot and I love the feeling. I'd like to get down to 250 or so. The keto before and after pics show me at 490 (not 512) and 388. Thank you so much for empowering me with your very helpful videos Dr Burg. I am your biggest fan!
