Weight loss and energy... finally
By: Sarah Foyle
I am a 58-year old woman living in Ireland, who has struggled with weight issues for most of my life. Most of my weight gain happened after the birth of my son in 2000. My excess weight has made me so unhappy that it has often been hard to motivate myself to try again to lose it. At my heaviest most recently, I was 256lbs. I decided about 3 months ago that I was not willing to continue being fat. So I started eating a very low-carb diet (not keto) and doing high intensity rest-based exercise, and I managed to lose 19lbs. But progress was slow, and I was impatient for the weight to be gone. A few weeks ago, after we were finally able to socialise outdoors with friends here in Ireland, I contacted a friend with whom I used to walk and exercise. We started walking together 1-2 hours per day outside. About 2 weeks ago, after both of us had viewed many if your videos, we both started on your suggested Keto/IF eating plan, and we continued to walk. Every day, we shared our experience of what we were eating and how we were feeling. In that first week, she lost 5lbs and I lost 6lbs! Needless to say, we were both over the moon. I still have 2 more days until the end of my 2nd week on the program, but I am sure that I'm in ketosis. I don't want to waste the effort that I've put in so far, so I'm going to continue. Other benefits I'm already experiencing are:. better sleep, more energy, mental clarity. Another reason that I wanted to try keto, is that I suffer from epilepsy, and I have read various articles about it being beneficial for epileptics. I cannot report much on that front, as I am still taking my medicine. However, I do feel that all of the other benefits will, in the end, help my epilepsy. I know that it may seem strange to put up a success story after only 1 week, but I really do feel that this is the right path for me. I know that I'm doing the right thing for my body (and mind), and it is changing the way that I relate to food. I realize that I am still at the start of my journey, but I hope that this story may help anyone else considering starting healthy keto and IF. I'll keep you updated with my progress. Finally, thank you so much for all of your videos. They are so helpful, explanatory and not bossy or patronising. Keep them coming. P.S. I do not have any keto before and after photos yet, but friends and strangers have noticed my weight loss already, which is better than any photo.
