Ulcerative Colitis Remission

Images Story

By: Grant Marceau

Hello, My name is Grant Marceau I am 35 and I'm from Wollongong in NSW Australia. I discovered keto/carnivore through my personal trainer and went online to research and found Dr. Berg, Shawn Baker, and Health Coach Kaite to have the best videos online about keto and carnivore. Before going keto/carnivore, I had issues with ulcerative colitis, was on medication, and was 90kg, which was big as I am quite short. (5'8) I used to eat a standard high carb diet with some junk food as well. Not a lot of sweets, just unhealthy foods like burgers, pizza, etc. I also drank beer and soft drinks. I started keto/carnivore in 2020 around March during the first lockdowns in Sydney for coronavirus. Since then, I have lost most of my body fat and gained muscle and now weigh 73kg. My gut health has dramatically improved and I am now officially in remission and off all medications. I no longer fast but did for the first 12 months. I ate 2 meals a day at 10 am and 4 pm, which consisted of meat and eggs most of the time, occasionally I had some keto salads. I now have 3 meals a day and still, eat mostly eggs and meat with some fruit and vegetables every day. I exercise a lot including strength training and cardio. I did not get the results I have had on keto/ carnivore when I was training on a garbage diet. Occasionally, I made the mistake of having a cheat night on the weekends but learnt quickly that it wasn't worth it. I usually suffered from keto flu after doing this. I now always drink alot of electrolytes and take magnesium and haven't had any issues. My advice for anyone starting keto would be to commit long term. It's not a quick 6 weeks fix, it's a lifestyle. Remove any non keto products from your house to avoid temptation and electrolytes are your friend, drink them everyday. I have photos on Instagram and Facebook @guntamarceau
