The Keto Diet does work. You just must figure out what works for you.

After purchasing a cookbook off Amazon that is for the Keto diet, but not being able to afford to fix the gourmet recipes that are in it, I somehow found Dr. Berg and started watching his YouTube videos; and by our second week in, we went totally with Dr. Berg. We jumped in with both feet and found out quickly that one must go slow. We went through a detox period where you feel horrible almost flu-like symptoms, but just kept going and got through. I ended up with keto rash because I was eating more fat and my liver couldn’t handle it, but your liver does get used to it so just keep going. By the third week, we were down to 2 meals a day, through the detox and rash, and feeling a lot better than the prior three weeks. We had more energy and the brain fog was gone. For me, that was a big NSV, because I was depressed, with no energy, and really wasn’t enjoying life. Hubby has always been in a good mood and a cheerful person, but he could tell a difference in his Achilles tendon. There was no more pain. He also was losing weight like crazy. Me nothing until the fifth week where I finally lost 5 lbs. Within that 5 weeks, I purchased Dr. Berg’s Adrenal Kit and all kinds of vitamins that I figured out we needed by just watching his videos; and kept tweaking what I was doing because for me something just still wasn’t right. I was still getting tired after eating and my neck and right shoulder were still hurting. We were about 9 weeks in when I came across Dr. Berg’s video on the 23 reasons to go OMAD. I watched it and everything Dr. Berg said in that video was totally me because I was never a three-meal-a-day person. I could go all day without getting hungry or if I did, I would grab the wrong thing to eat because I didn’t feel like cooking. Tired talking hubby in to it, but he was wasn’t ready. So, the beginning of our 9th week, I went OMAD. After the first day of only eating one meal and waking up the next morning, my neck and right shoulder pain was gone. I couldn’t believe it. I was in total awe. From there till now hubby will have coffee with cream and Splenda in the mornings and maybe a snack (macadamia nuts) sometimes but sticks to OMAD. I will sometimes have a BPC (I know it breaks your fast, but sometimes I need the fat to help me through and it works for me) in the mornings or just coffee with cream and stevia and one meal in the afternoons. We try to stick to organic, grass fed as much as possible; but sometimes you just can’t do it. When we eat out, we do stick to the Keto guidelines just know that it’s not organic or grass fed; but something is better than going off totally. Hubby does “dirty keto” (that’s what he calls it) and has lost over 50 lbs. For the first 5 months, I was strict with my eating, but this last month, I have been dirty keto and haven’t noticed a big difference just a slight stall but am still losing inches and down 25 lbs. We were going to Chicago and it was going to be cold while we were there. Me being Florida raised was down to 2 pairs of capri jeans, 1 pair of light pants, and no winter clothes, so I had to go clothes shopping and have gone from a size 18-20 to a size 14. The NSV are just as important as the scale victories, because I saw NSV before I saw it on the scale and that was enough to keep me going. Our NSV include: hubby’s blood pressure under control, my sleep apnea is gone, his snoring is now bearable while mine is totally gone, no more depression, mental clarity, and waking up refreshed with enough energy to last the whole day while looking younger. I have had short fat feet all my life, now I have nice short thin feet. I’m able to wear shoes that didn’t fit well in the first place, but fit perfect now. I even told hubby a couple of months ago that “I could tell that my head had even gotten smaller.” The Keto Diet does work. You just must figure out what works for you. What works for me is not the same for hubby. It took me 9 weeks to figure it out, but once I did, the results are awesome. We have been doing Keto for 6 months, are Keto for life, and can’t wait to see where we will be in the next 6 months. We are both healthier now than we have been in years. Thank you, Dr. Berg, for all you do. Tabatha and Burt Noyes
