Since then I have lost 122 lbs and the change in my health has been phenomenal.

I have a disease called lipoedema, which is a painful adipose disease, and unfortunately, it’s not affected by diet and exercise.
My legs, hips and arms grow uncontrollably. At age 62 I had a stroke which meant I gained weight in other areas.
As I reached age of 70, I was 416 lbs and unable to exercise, but followed a diet plan faithfully advised by my GP, so just kept gaining weight. I joined Weight Watchers and very slowly lost 42 lbs. I then a found a Facebook group called “Talk Lipoedema”, which is also a registered charity and a lady on the group introduced me to the ketogenic way of eating.
The past 3 years have been an eye opener, as I entered this lifestyle very sceptical, because it was the opposite of what I had been taught, both in my profession as a midwife and by my doctors.
Since then I have lost 122 lbs and the change in my health has been phenomenal. I have diabetes and have reduced my fat-storing hormone requirements by more than half, my asthma has all but gone, my energy levels have increased. Although I remain disabled by lipoedema, I can now walk further than I could without having to sit down. I still have 28 lbs to go to get to the weight I want to be but that shouldn’t be a problem, as the ketogenic diet is now my lifestyle and I couldn’t go back to the tasteless meals I used to eat. Fresh home cooked food is what I eat and always will.
