I’ve been overweight my entire life, a fat child, a fat teenager then a fat women. I’ve also dieted since as young as I can remember, nothing ever worked. I can remember going to see my first dietician at about the age of 11. Finally, in my teens, I was able to lose weight but then gained it all back. In my 20’s I tipped the scales at about 400 pounds and by the time I reached my early 30’s I was already weighing about 450 pounds, I got scared and started a diet and fitness program and lost over 200 pounds, then come to find out I was pregnant, I gained over 100 pounds back with the pregnancy. Luckily I gave birth to a wonderful and healthy child. With the stress of working full time and being a single mom, I quit taking care of myself and my weight got to 376 and by this time into my early 40’s and suffering from anxiety, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and taking meds, my doctor told me that I might get a heart attack. This totally scared me, I freaked out and even looked into weight loss surgery, I was already having meetings with a surgeon but chickened out. Thankfully I started a healthier lifestyle, watching my carbohydrate intake, invested in a Fitbit and got obsessed with my steps. A friend of mine told me about the keto diet and intermittent fasting and I fell in love with it. Two years later I was down over 185 pounds, I went from a 24 women’s size jean to a misses size 8, my doctor told me I had cleared my medical record, no more high blood pressure, no more sleep apnea. I’ve now been able to maintain my weight, it’s now been almost 4 years and still fit into my size 8 jeans.
