Lemons dissolve kidney stones

Story

By: Tom Byrne

Hello Dr. Berg,

My apologies for taking so long to write feedback. I wanted to be sure that I was completely recovered. This is about your suggestion for the treatment of kidney stones using freshly squeezed lemon juice. It has been a huge success for me and everyone who knows me has been amazed by the results. Last year (about 14 months ago), I had a very bad kidney stone and was ill for several days before I decided to do something about it. The pain was awful but I resisted going to a doctor for treatment initially. As the pain became more intense, I went to my local hospitals' accident and emergency where they x-rayed me and identified kidney stones as the cause, then admitted me at once. Kidney stones seem to be common here as, after a few days in a private room I was placed in a ward with many other people who had the same condition. I was in the private ward for 3 days and the general hospital ward for 5 days. Initially, they tried to dissolve it using a lot of saline solution and kept me on painkillers for the entire time.

Eventually, they decided to operate and remove it but at the last moment, they discovered that they couldn’t identify its location and decided that it was too risky. So they gave me the contact details of a specialist and sent me home. In frustration, the same day, I searched through your channel for advice and within minutes found the information on lemon juice. As I’m in Italy I’m surrounded by lemon trees and was able to just grab a few and try it out. Perhaps you can explain why within a few moments the pain just went away, faster than it would have with painkillers. Of course, it came back after a few hours but I could function and it was a good sign so I continued for several months.

I took the juice of a lemon twice per day, once in the morning and once in the evening. I also drank a lot of water containing lemon juice during the day. During that period, although I was very tired all the time, the kidney stone didn’t hurt unless I forgot to take the juice. After a couple of months of daily juicing, the stone passed, completely painlessly. My energy levels returned but I had to be careful of what I ate as the kidneys would begin throbbing if there were too many carbs. I could eat as much meat as I liked. I continue to drink lemon juice every day as kidney stones take a long time to grow and I would like to prevent a repeat.

Another benefit I’ve noticed is that my gums don’t bleed if I vigorously brush my teeth but if I neglect to take lemon juice, they will. I hope that’s good enough feedback. I’ve kept a log of my progress on your post and a lot of others have chimed in with questions and their own experiences. Best regards and many thanks, Dr. Berg. Tom
