It's about learning what's right for us...and I've learned by listening to Dr Berg.
By: Rob Van Proemeren
So at the start of this year (2021), I'd been learning about keto and low carb eating for a little while. For me, the way Dr. Berg explained the processes going on in the body as a response to the foods we eat, made it easy to grasp what I needed to do. There's no great secret in what I've done. I put together a set of menus for the week, go shopping for the right food items, stick to the routine, and the help that my wife is doing this with me. So there's a good moral support angle at play I'll admit. The first weeks are the hardest, so going through the collection of Youtube videos from Dr. Berg to find an appropriate method to deal with an adverse response has been awesome. The supplements I use are a basic multivitamin, potassium, MCT oil, and magnesium citrate. My start weight in January was 113.6 kg (250 lbs) and now sitting at 96.3 kg (212 lbs). Blood pressure started off around 140/90 and is now around 120/80. Cholesterol is in the happy range as well. There's a real downside though, pants went from 38 to 36, shirts from XL to L and I'm using my belts notched up to the tightest hole. Energy levels are improved, and mental clarity is an added benefit. The hardest part of embarking on this lifestyle is accepting that what we've been told in terms of foods to eat has been so wrong for so long, then replacing that knowledge with what actually works for us. My own doctor is mildly skeptical about the amount of fat and protein in my food but is positive about the results. Dr. Berg, please keep sharing your knowledge so we can continue to learn from you. Regards, Rob
