I have been watching a few of Dr. Berg's videos on the benefits of fasting over the last couple of months validating and improving on what already has been an effective health aide. Purposefully, I have fully ignored everything about keto as I was happily making bread, eating a minimal amount of meat while rewarding myself with half to 1 whole block of chocolate Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. I'm talking up to a large block each of these days, not a bar... Weekend meals are usually heavy carb meals, all very happy. I am suffering from Dermoid Excema, perennial rhinitis, and heaps of inflammation. 4 months ago, I was bit by a mosquito and have been diagnosed with Ross River virus that gives you arthritic pain in joints, no cure, just bare through it for a few months, then it may flare up year to year. All the pain has been in my feet and I'm a runner. I have gained 10kg in the first 2 months as I'm not mobile but my hunger has not stopped. I'm a very pragmatic and disciplined person so decided enough was enough after I looked in the mirror after my 37th birthday weekend fully bloated and out of control. I'm in week 4 of this new keto change and have completely shredded that 10kg off and still going, which is weird as I would normally gain weight then run it off after a couple of months. So losing weight when doing no exercise is strange for me. If I was asked a month ago could I give up carbs I would have laughed, now I'm loving fresh salads with plenty of fat added to fill up. The main benefit throughout this journey has been regularly watching Dr. Berg's videos and equipping myself with knowledge, which further cements this newfound diet as not just a diet but how I should be eating permanently. Carbs and sugar are very much sometimes food that I'm sure I will return to however with care, control, and calculation. I'm just enjoying freeing myself from the cravings. Thank you!
