I immigrated to Canada 5 years ago from Turkey to do my Ph.D. studies. At the time I was 74 kg and could easily do a 15 km run a day, also I was very into rock climbing. In my naive mind, I was thinking that in Canada there is good regulation on the food that is been offered in the grocery stores and restaurants. Slowly but surely I started to gain weight. I was not even aware of it for a while until during a skype call my dad mentioned it to me! Why I was gaining weight? Mainly due to highly processed carbs and unhealthy food that has been offered at the shops around the University. Also, all the sugar they put in everything. At the time I did not know about keto or intermittent fasting. In my third year of my Ph.D., I started to go above 90 kg. I could feel the effect of extra kilos on my daily life! I started to do long runs but I really couldn't do anymore also they were not helpful at all with the weight problem. In my fourth year which I was finishing my thesis, I hit 95 Kg. I couldn't control it anymore, it was bad and scary. I was fortunate to hear about the keto diet and then find Dr. Berg on the internet. In one year I came back to 76 kg also I can again do very long runs. My sleep reduced, I can get up early in the morning easily and I have a lot of focus and concentration with much less stress. Thank you Dr. Berg for your great content! It definitely changed my life.
