How I Saved My Life
By: Jim Forsyth
In 2014, I started putting on weight rapidly, I was diagnosed with Hypertension, Stage III Kidney failure, Type 2 Diabetes, Atrial Fibrillation, Sleep Apnea. My blood pressure was up around 220/130. One Friday, I was in my Doctors office and he was afraid I would not make it through the weekend so he called for an ambulance and I was taken to hospital for a few days. They put me on 6 drugs which helped a little bit but not a whole lot. I'm an engineer (retired), I decided if I was going to have an improvement in my situation, I was going to have to start reading up on medical information that related to my condition. I quickly came across the Glycemic Index and immediately started cutting down on sugar and grains. As my reading continued, I gradually moved into the Ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting. My weight peaked at 295 pounds and after about a year of dieting, I was down around 200 pounds. Another year went by and my weight had dropped to around 177 pounds, I am still there today. All of the diseases I had been diagnosed with are gone and I take no drugs, life is great! After some six years eating Keto, I don't expect that will ever change, I typically eat one meal a day, I bake my own bread, cakes and cookies. I mostly confine my eating to somewhere between 12 noon and 4:00. I am currently 74 years old but I feel more like 44.
