How fruit caused a heart attack and how keto was the prognosis
By: Ron schultz
I am 65 and a recreational triathlete for 20+ years. In 2018 I had a heart attack after a triathlon. I had stents put in in the ER. The doctor told me plaque broke off and caused a blockage (25% blockage). The doctor prescribed 7 different drugs that I was going to have to take the rest of my life. However the drugs made me feel awful. Being of a science background I did a deep dive into the drugs. Also the doctor was unable to identify a root cause. I concluded from studies and trials the results on the drugs were marginal at best. Against my doctor’s recommendations I discontinued. I also concluded that diet was the root cause of the plaque. My diet although many would say was “heathy” included a lot of carbs and I regularly ate 7 servings of fruits per day. I have been on a keto diet with intermittent fasting for 2 years. I am completing all the same swimming, biking and running. I have lost 20 pounds. A recent check up show no plaque, lower blood pressure and a resting heart of 49.
