Health before Weight Loss

At 66, I have been on most of the diets out there and considered a stomach band. I am pre-diabetic, meaning that it can still be resolved through nutrition and exercise. I had my gallbladder removed when there were other choices that were unknown to me. and I now know that there are several important nutrients that I am having a hard time processing.
I had severe morning dry eyes and I don't know where that came from, (getting rid of alcohol fixed that). I used to suffer from edema, which is now gone. I have achy restless legs. My best deepest sleep comes one hour before the alarm goes off. When I began this journey, my weight was 230 pounds. The "Lap Band"... The rigorous process needed to be approved by the insurance company was completed and only needed to be scheduled.
Why I did not follow through...
1) Anything over 3 ounces would have made me "empty my stomach". I really enjoy food and 3 ounces is not enough and it would have left me hungry.
2) Because you are not able to eat enough to sustain life, you would have been subscribed to supplements. You would be dependent on for life on technology instead of life-giving plants on our planet.
3) You would no longer have access to most of your stomach and the incredible work it does, in the digestive process. There would be vitamins and nutrients for good health, which you would no longer be able to process.
In the end, Did I want to look pretty or feel healthy and vibrant? Did I want to look pretty or be able to hike in the mountains? Other diets... Each diet successfully allowed me to lose the weight but, it always came back plus twenty pounds. Each time my metabolism slowed even further until dieting just did not work until I found a plant-strong, low-fat diet.
This plan was really healthy and I discovered that you don't need meat and dairy. My health improved, diabetes gone, blood pressure problems gone, great weight loss. On this program, you had to eat a lot and all of the time. But, I really missed eating meat and dairy. I could not stay on the eating lifestyle change that was beneficial to me. What good is a dietary plan if you do not stick with it? It would take several months, for the weight to come back and in the end, it did. I never considered the Keto plan before because it lacked emphasis on the wonderful health benefits of plants until I found Dr. Berg. This is a plan that I can stay on for the rest of my life. Following is a list of why I will be hiking in the mountains at 88 years of age...
1) This is a plant-strong dietary plan that includes healthy fats, meat, and dairy.
2) There are supplements to compensate for previous errors in judgment, stressors, and body differences.
3) The online classes are amazing and provide great instruction.
4) All of the recipes you ever need, to help you on your journey.
5) Intermittent fasting instead of starvation, for weight loss and creating or maintaining a higher metabolism.
So how did I start and how do I feel? After the purchase of the starter kit, I took seven days to immerse myself in the program via the instructional videos. I kept a log in a small notebook to keep me focused, know what and when I was eating, and how I felt. All of the unacceptable food was eliminated from my pantry. About 30 days in, I can report that I feel great! My edema is gone. My morning dry eyes are gone. My blood pressure is fantastic. I am sleeping better. I have lost 19 pounds and that large "sugar belly" is melting away. I am not hungry and snacking all of the time. I am not coming off of this plan! This is the one for me! Thank you, Dr. Berg!
