From Broken Back to Back in Shape

Hi.

In July of 2019, I was in a car accident and fractured my L1, L2, and L3 vertebrae. Very painful and I wasn't able to do much for a year.

I went to work each day in a brace then came home to sit on the couch with a heating pad. I took large quantities of Tramadol, Gabapentin, Valium, Advil, and Tylenol. I did 5 rounds of oral steroids and blew up like a balloon. Then did two injections directly into my spine. There was no relief at all.

 

My wife had to help me dress, we couldn't be intimate, I was in constant pain and could only stand for short periods of time. I honestly thought that I was going to end up in a wheelchair. In July of 2020, X-rays showed that the compression fractures had mostly healed, but there was still a lot of pain and I actually lost height permanently.

 

I developed severe sciatica pain from sitting around so much. I couldn't even think about exercising, but I was still eating my usual favorites like beer, pasta, and pizza and was gaining weight rapidly. My wife was fed up and pressuring me to move forward with spine surgery to try to get our active lifestyle back. I was seeing a neurosurgeon regularly and as we were about to schedule spine surgery I had a moment of panic and clarity. I told him that I wanted to hold off and do some research on my own. He was shocked, and so was my wife. I googled inflammation, and that led me to Dr. Ken Berry and YouTube. I started the carnivore diet the next day and did it for 1 month.

 

I really missed eating produce and knew that it wasn't sustainable for me, but I did lose some weight and noticed that my pain was lessening a bit. I discovered your videos and made the switch to keto. That was a huge improvement. Something I could live with for the long haul. I was fascinated with the clear teaching style, quality, and quantity of your videos. I took your advice, all of it. I eliminated carbs, all sugar, seed oils, and alcohol. I take vitamins and supplements like potassium, magnesium, and zinc. I go to bed at 10 PM and sleep soundly for 8 hours. I switched to pink Himalayan salt and am spending much more time outdoors. I buy better quality meats, fish, produce, and eggs. I went from three meals to two to OMAD, and I'm never hungry.

 

Today, September 5, 2021, I am down 60lbs. Lean and mean at 59 years old. I just returned from a week at the beach with my family, body surfing, fishing, boating, and riding bikes. I've worked out every day since January 1. I lift weights 3 times per week and play basketball several times per week. I went hiking in Utah in May for a week at Zion and Bryce Canyon.

 

I'm planning a trip to London next month. I have zero pain, take no medications, and can wear nice slim-fitting clothes again. I couldn't be happier and life is great. Your advice completely turned my life around. I continue to watch your videos every day for new content and to just stay inspired. Again, thank you so much. Bob
