Beginning Keto at 72

Story

By: Eluzabeth

Hi Dr. Berg. I'm 72 years young. I had always been pretty slender up until I turned 50. It seems all the warranties ran out and I began to gain weight. I am 5'6" and used to weigh between 110 and 120 most of my life - until age 50. I would do a 3-day fast and lose some weight, I tried all kinds of diets. I would lose some but not all the weight I gained. It just kept adding up. I started Keto and after a couple of weeks, I decided I needed oranges and bananas in my life and I stopped Keto. But my, then 71 year old body, started having lots of edema, frequent urination, I felt weak and was always tired. So, I tried Keto again. Now, after several weeks, my edema seems to be gone. And oddly enough, the periodic tingling and numbness in my finger tips isn't happening any more. I think nerves need more than a couple weeks to repair themselves, but it is what it is. I never drank that much, but I stopped completely. I am trying to get more exercise. I noticed today that I seem to be losing belly fat. The advice I would give someone is to not give up and do clean Keto. Anyway, that's my beginning Keto story.
