Another success story of Keto reversing Type 2 diabetes

Story

By: Dale

I am a 67 year old male. During the past three years, the Keto lifestyle has reversed the Type 2 diabetes according to my most recent blood tests. I felt that my MD was determined to label me as another statistic and I was equally determined to do what was needed to remedy my situation. The transition into strict Keto was about two years ago at a time when I was immersing myself into Dr. Berg’s videos. Since youth, my diet was only marginally better than the Standard American Diet: pies, popcorn, pasta, potatoes, carbs of all kinds. Now I even make my own ‘Keto approved‘ bread recipe for toast (one slice per day). I am now about 40 pounds lighter as well (to 188 pounds); on OMAD, IF, with more energy than when I was 50. From September of 2020 I began working out regularly on light weights, stretching and mini-trampoline exercises (unthinkable 5 years ago. And, I firmly believe weight loss will not happen if the body is not healthy); and this is following 20 years of practically NO physical activity. With information from the videos, I view what has happened to me as a very successful science experiment. Brain fog gone, arthritis gone, a strong immune system. (In 2009 following knee surgery after a motorcycle accident, the surgeon warned me there would be a good chance that arthritis would cause me problems eventually. So far no issues). It seems that I am prone to high BP and gout, unfortunately. I also appreciate the valuable secondary insights into the detrimental conditions created by the food industry, big pharma and the medical establishment. As far as suggestions to newcomers to Keto: - don’t wait for a serious health condition to arise before starting; the benefits will truly surprise you; - Presently society, generally, will likely not be supportive, so only discuss it with like minded individuals. Avoid naysayers. People will comment on your weight loss without being aware of the possibly more significant benefits happening to you. I stress to them the diabetes reversal for me. In my experience, the vast majority has never heard of insulin resistance, and they assume one will die staying on OMAD; it is very hard to watch people close to you who need to lose weight think only about the importance of exercising. For me the Keto diet was well established, considerable weight loss happened, and only THEN did I consider exercise (for toning up long neglected muscles and ligaments) - not everyone will adopt an identical lifestyle as others when doing Keto. Make it work for you, especially when there are others in your household that may think what you are doing is weird. For me, this is when living alone has a definite advantage! You be the model to show the benefits of what it is doing for you, and sooner or later others may be influenced positively by you.
