Total Time: 30 minutes

Serves: 8

Per serving: 210 calories, 8.5 g protein, 3.6 g carbohydrates, 17.7 g fat

Ingredients

Cake:

cooking spray

3 large eggs

1½ cups blanched almond flour

¼ cup cocoa powder

2 Tbsp dark Dutch cocoa powder

⅓ cup erythritol, granulated

1½ tsp vanilla extract

⅓ cup almond milk

½ tsp baking powder

Cream cheese frosting:

4 oz cream cheese, room temperature

½ cup erythritol, powdered

1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F /177 degrees C.

  2. Grease 8-inch round cake pan with cooking spray.

  3. In large mixing bowl, blend eggs, almond flour, cocoa powder, Dutch cocoa, erythritol, vanilla extract, almond milk, and baking powder until well combined.

  4. Pour batter into prepared cake pan and spread evenly.

  5. Bake for 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

  6. While cake is cooling, combine cream cheese, erythritol, and vanilla extract in medium bowl until smooth.

  7. Once cake has cooled, slice into quarters.

  8. Generously spread cream cheese frosting on each quarter and stack them, smoothing additional frosting on top for a beautifully frosted finish.

Recipe tips:

  • You can substitute blanched almond flour for coconut flour if desired.

  • Add chopped nuts or sugar-free chocolate chips to the cake batter to add a delightful crunch.

  • If you prefer a fudgier texture, use baking soda instead of baking powder.

  • To achieve a moist chocolate cake, incorporate 1 to 2 tablespoons of coconut oil into the batter before baking.

  • Line the bottom of the cake pan with parchment paper to ensure easy removal.

  • To make a larger cake, use two cake pans and double the ingredients. Stack and frost the layers to create a taller, more impressive dessert.

Prepare to savor every bite of this indulgent and richly flavored Keto Chocolate Cake!

Packed with healthy fats from almond flour, cream cheese, and eggs, it’s the perfect low-carb dessert to keep you in fat-burning mode.

Whether you're celebrating or simply craving a sweet treat, this cake delivers incredible taste without compromising your keto lifestyle.

Why you’ll love this keto-friendly recipe

Following a Healthy Keto® diet doesn't mean you can’t enjoy the occasional sweet dessert.

With this delicious Keto Chocolate Cake recipe, you can indulge in a guilt-free treat that won't kick you out of ketosis.

The nutrient-dense ingredients, including cocoa powder, almond flour, and erythritol, aren’t just keto-approved but also provide various health-promoting effects.

Loaded with antioxidants, cocoa powder has shown the potential to significantly benefit heart health and reduce inflammation.

In addition, a study published in Antioxidants & Redox Signaling summarizes the health advantages of cocoa as follows, “Cocoa can protect nerves from injury and inflammation, protect the skin from oxidative damage from UV radiation in topical preparations, and have beneficial effects on satiety, cognitive function, and mood.”

Another reason to enjoy this Chocolate Keto Cake is that it's suitable for diabetics as it uses low-glycemic almond flour and erythritol, a powdered sweetener that doesn’t contribute to blood sugar fluctuations.

Almond flour is a low-carb alternative to traditional wheat flour and is rich in vitamin E, magnesium, and healthy fats.

"Wheat flour has a high glycemic index (GI) of 85, which can cause inflammation and spike blood sugar levels, while almond flour has a much lower GI of less than one," explains Dr. Berg. "This makes it ideal for those with insulin resistance, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome."

Beyond its nutritional benefits, this keto-friendly cake is also simple to make and ideal for any occasion, whether you're enjoying a post-dinner dessert or celebrating with friends and family.

You'll also delight in the rich, deep chocolate flavor, which is complemented by the perfect touch of sweetness from the cream cheese frosting.

For extra indulgence, blend additional cocoa powder into your cream cheese icing to create a luscious keto chocolate frosting.

One bite of this decadent cake will whisk you away to paradise with its irresistible chocolate flavor and moist, tender crumb.

Storing tips

If you're not careful, you may end up eating this entire cake in one sitting. However, to keep your cake fresh, store it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.

For longer storage, keep it in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze it for as long as three months. Just make sure to let it come to room temperature before serving for the best flavor and texture, but avoid leaving it out for extended periods, as this can lead to spoilage.
