S. Snitzer's Story
By: S. Snitzer
S. Snitzer is a military man who has been athletic since the age of 5. However, after he left the military and finished the police academy, he found that he was slowly getting more and more out of shape. He was unhappy with the way his body looked. After being a police officer for 13 years, his weight was taking a toll on his knees and back.
“I knew I had to do something about it but did not know how I wanted to attack this situation,” he said. “Needless to say it was time to change.”
Snitzer did his research on YouTube and came across several people who had been successful with keto. Dr. Berg was one of those people.
“[Dr. Berg] and I just agreed from the start. I decided to go all-in and started the keto lifestyle [on] May 1, 2019,” said Snitzer. “Dr. Berg taught me that with hard work and dedication, a human body can be transformed to what it should be. He taught that with the right supplements, nutrition, minerals, and dedication to a healthy lifestyle including real healthy eating can bring great changes!”
At the time when he started Healthy Keto(TM), Snitzer was 235 pounds (107 kg) at 5’7” and he didn’t have the energy to play with his sons. He recalled that all he wanted to do was sleep and that his body “felt horrible.”
Initially, Snitzer experienced the “keto flu” as he went into fat-burning. Looking back, he wishes he had found Dr. Berg’s supplements sooner. He also said that his diet was difficult at times because his sons still ate some carbs and sugar, so it was necessary to cook differently for them. In spite of that, he said that “turning back to the standard American diet is not an option.”
Snitzer had his family’s support during his keto journey; they helped by encouraging him during challenging times.
“My children and wife have been amazing,” he said. “Without them and the support [that] they have given me, it would have been much more difficult. My boys are happy because dad does not look like Santa anymore. My kids and wife are happy because I am happy.”
Additionally, he credits his military experience with his ability to set goals and achieve them.
“I was really focused on my goal. Being a military man, setting and obtaining goals is what I do,” said Snitzer. “I guess it has been a little easier for me because of my military background... I am used to not having what I want so it is not hard to tell myself I cannot have certain foods.”
In six months, Snitzer lost 64 pounds (29 kg) and over 11 inches off his waist. For him, the best part of finding success with keto is being able to fit into his old clothes again. He also said he has “tons of energy” and he doesn’t suffer from joint pain anymore.
“I can run again, lift weights, and ride my bike without pain. I can play with my kids outside and feel like I am 20 again, and I am 43 years old!” he said.
He advised: “If you are reading this I want to encourage you to set small goals and achieve them. It is not going to be easy, but it is worth it! You will come to realize that we should not live to eat; rather we should eat to live. The body is so incredibly able to transform itself if we give it the chance. Do it for yourself and do not let anything get in the way of what you want to accomplish. You may slip up. If you do, do not give up, start again! Remember, only you have the ability to change and that is exactly what I had to remind myself of. You can do anything you set your mind to. God bless.”
Favorite Way to Exercise: “My favorite way to exercise is actually very simple and it does not even take a gym. I do push-ups, sit-ups, leg lifts, squats, kettlebells for arms and triceps, and I ride my stationary bike three days a week!” said Snitzer. “When I do my exercises I do a complete body workout, not individual muscle groups. I burn fat much more [efficiently] by doing this.”
