Pleasantly surprised

Story

By: Faatimah B

My name is Faatimah B. from Pennsylvania originally from Michigan. I first heard about the Keto diet from a co-worker I worked with a few years ago when she suddenly lost a whole bunch of weight and I asked what was her secret? She didn't necessarily refer to it as a keto diet but she did say she just decreased her carbohydrate intake dramatically. That was when I started researching the keto diet and came across Dr. Berg. I watched several of your videos and I could relate to a significant amount of the information you were presenting in those videos. I took the Body Type quiz and it resulted in me having an adrenal body type so I proceeded to follow the recommendation for that body type. Then in Jan. 2018, I started what I called a "keto like" diet because I didn't and still wasn't following it strictly and it's probably now known as "dirty keto" I think. For me, I did decrease my carb intake, increased my healthy fats and veggies, and limited my fruits significantly as well. At the time I was working as a Medical Assistant so I'd walk the parking lot during my breaks and I started to see the weight drop off, and I was feeling more energetic. I had more mental clarity, more tolerance to stress. I felt it was working however since I didn't have everyone in my household on board I got comfortable and started to get lazy with my keto, not really staying on the program and I ended up gaining some of my weight back. I went from 283lbs to 244lbs back up to 262. I was not eating as many veggies I wasn't really watching my carb intake I was just eating healthy fats probably too much. I was a bit ashamed but I started back up again. Then at the end of the summer of 2019, we relocated to a different state and I retired from work. That is when I added ACV, a multivitamin, turmeric, IF, and more exercise on average 2-4 days a week. My typical day is ACV 1st thing in the AM then lemon ginger water, unsweetened tea, unsweetened sparkling water or just plain water until about 1:30 - 2 pm. Then I'll have my first meal of the day which is at times a big salad, or scrambled eggs with beef bacon and half of an avocado. Then just sips of water when I feel thirsty or nothing at all until dinner around 5:30 - 6pm and I'll eat some type of protein with veggies hot or cold and some type of keto dessert. No more eating after 7:30pm the latest 8:00 pm. I take ACV and ashwagandha or melatonin and I'm in bed not later than 10pm. I get up around 5 am and I continued to see my weight fall off. Now I am 237 lbs and I feel great. I would just want people to know start off slow, know there may be some set backs, and you'll see your clothes sizes go down faster than the numbers on the scale, but don't give up. Even if it feels like its not working don't give up.
