Nocturnal Leg Cramps
By: Cal Thomas
Dr. Berg, after an excruciating time and having a Transforaminal laminectomy (L5-S1), followed by 3 years of oxycodone and morphine sulphate - way too long in retrospect :-( I slept in a sea of sweat often - got dehydrated big time till I wised up. I believe I damaged the Quadralatus lumborum such that it easily gets dehydrated and causes pain - a form of cramp?? but very difficult to resolve. I rolled around with a tennis ball on it to the point of pain to coax it to resolve. It is a warning sign that I heed now as I live in Florida and if I get out in hot weather, I sweat so much that I can get cramps in different places on my leg. So, I drink a lot of water over the day - a bit at a time and often dip a wet finger in a bowl of sea salt to restore electrolytes. I also supplement with Magnesium Threonate and try to add Cream Of Tartar to a kale smoothie to get he Potassium? or is it Phosphorous? Wishing you the best - have always loved your white board presentations - they are brief and to the point that we al love. Cheers and Best to you Cal Thomas
