Massively improved debilitating hoshimotoes autoimmune disease
By: Melissandra Worthington
Hi, I'm 35 years old female. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyrioitis about 4 years ago. Looking back, I may have shown some signs as early as 6 years old. The doctors prescribed me levothyroxine, to treat the thyroid portion of the disease. Thing is, from the get go my doctor said that it was a targeted attack on the thyriod caused by an overactive immune system. My ex has psoriasis, which is also cause by an overactive immune response. In fact, he has one of the worst cases the doctors had ever seen. Their suggestion was to impede his immune response. That is the root cause of both diseases. So just treating the thyriod that is under attack didn't do anything. I'm not anti modern medicine. I know full well that modern meds are the only effective treatment for many things. I also know full well that holistic medicine can treat some things better than modern medicine, or add a extra boost to modern Medi-Cal treatment. For instance, echinacea and vitamin c in conjunction with antibiotics boost the effectiveness of the antibiotic. As of last year my body was on a downward and diblilitating spiral from Hashimoto's. I had severe migrains almost daily, could not regulate my own blood sugar or appetite. I was very sick and helpless to fix it. My doctor wanted to throw more pills, and some wouldn't work. I have a hereditary high tolerance to medication that caused the migraine mefs to not work for more than a month or two. The hypoglygimia I was expected to grin and bear it. My doctor saw all my symptoms as seperate diagnoses. I want getting better, I was getting worse. I could no longer function. As of January, I found out what all the symptoms of hoshimotoes were, and that probiotics could be a treatment option. I used myself as a lab rat to test it out. I started by making fermented veggies and vinigar from homemade fruit wine with homemade yogurt on occasion. Then I branched off into homemade fruit juice based sodas and sour cream. I watched as things got better. Eventually my improvement hit a plateau. Then about 3 months ago, I learned about the range of probiotics in komboocha as well as how easy and cheap it is to make. So I started that up. I made sure to know the reccomended dosage. However, at first I was far exceeding that. The reccomended dosage was 12 oz per day. I was doing 2-2 1/2 16oz bottles a day. I did that until I saw it having negative effects and no longer being benificial. That's when I cut back to one 16oz bottle a day. I still throw in other probiotics as well to balance things out. As a result, my issues are at a manageable level. I still have some symptoms, but they are minor. It's nice to have my life back. I noticed you focus on a strictly keto lifestyle. I can't say that I do 100% keto, or any specified diet per say. But I will do whatever works. I'm no doctor, though I have Kin that are medically certified rns or former doctors. I did for a while train to be a pharmacy tech, though I did switch programs. I won't claim to be a Medi-Cal expert. But I'm not ignorant about medicine either. I won't say my change in diet is a cure all, or that it fixed everything or will help everybody. All I'm saying is that I was suffering and my doctor couldn't help me so I did some research to try to find a hail Mary to help myself and succeeded. If it didn't work it would have left me no worse off. Luckily it did. I do have an appointment coming up with my doctor that will include blood tests to see scientific evidence of what has or gas not improved so I can see tangible evidence and figure out what may need to be tweaked further.
