Knee trouble
By: Brian richard wikson
In 2004, At the age of 52, I had a legacy of bad knee pain, based on years of playing soccer and running. So my left knee got so bad, I was recommended keyhole surgery to correct the problem. I was booked in the local hospital for day surgery under a general anesthetic to remove cartilage residues. This they did and the advice was given now to strengthen the legs with gym resistance training to help strengthen the surrounding muscles and thereby aid knee healing generally.
So I did all this and it worked. Comments were made thought that my right knee would soon need the op too, and then it would probably need repeating on the left knee in 10 years. I am a regular swimmer and since the op, I have mainly avoided vigorous running and contact sport to avoid knee trouble reoccurrence. In the last 4 years or so, both my knees have been 'on the edge' of weakening to problem pain level again.
I read your (Eric Berg) piece on knee strengthening by swimming and concentrating on leg/knee exercise within the swim on a regular basis. So I've done this and apart from some knee 'twinges' kept free of pain, being able to walk and jog without trouble. So thank you, Eric, for your reassuring advice which has worked now for 17 years since my knee op, and I have studied nutrition and obtained nutritionist standards so I can pass on tips/advice to freely help others on my random blog. Your tips and advice work and I have recommended your website youtube blog to many friends and acquaintances.
