I’:m convinced it is your fault if, after your diagnosis of diabetes, you continue to eat foods you shouldn’t eat.
By: Bert Lundy
At 78 years old, I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 with an A1C of 7.1, which rose to 7.5, largely because no instruction was given on what to eat. I learned on my own, through YouTube with Dr. Berg, Dr. Jason Fung, and others. Their videos are invaluable. After my diagnosis, I cleaned everything I could not eat out of my house. I started reading nutritional info. It helped a lot. Next test A1C was down to 6.2. Then COVID came. Over the course of one year of isolation, I climbed to 6.7, then 6.9. I then started the Keto diet. It’s the easiest diet ever, and I’ve tried every diet there is. I wrote a list of everything I couldn’t eat: sugar, soda/juice, pasta, fast food, chocolate, potatoes, grains, legumes, breads for a start. I made an eating program that I use to this day. I made a vegetable low starch medley stir fry for my meal at noon, when I break my fast.. Then I eat my second meal at 6:00 in the evening. In the last 18 months I have lost 60 pounds using Keto and intermittent fasting from 240 down to 180. Five pounds to go. I have seen five doctors, all from the same group, over this time. Not one of them gave me any tips, any idea on my diet and exercise. I did it on my own with help only from Dr. Berg and Dr. Fung. I am so grateful for Keto and intermittent fasting and these fine doctors. But I’m not out of the woods yet. I still have diabetes, but I’m hoping my next a1c will see a drop. Thanks, Dr. Berg.
