Choosing keto and intermittent fasting is about more than just weight loss. It’s about choosing to put your health first. For Sherry Neville, although she was frustrated about stubborn belly fat, major weight loss wasn’t the reason she started. Now she’s able to maintain her high school weight while she enjoys the foods she loves.
As an extremely active 67-year-old woman, she feels that what she eats is important to her lifestyle. At 50, Neville got her motorcycle license and has been riding ever since. At 52, she started competing in figure competitions. At 58 she took up pole dancing and at 64 she competed in country partner dancing.
In May 2018, she was on a mission to find a diet that would work long-term. She’d done body building for two years but found that eating in that way couldn’t be maintained. Then she found Dr. Berg’s videos. “I like his no-nonsense approach to explaining in laymen terms,” said Neville.
With keto and intermittent fasting, she finally feels in control of what and when she eats. During the process of moving from a 16:8 fasting schedule to 18:6, she has known that what she’s eating is fueling her the right way. “The hardest part was opening my mind up to a new way of eating and not eating a snack at night,” she said. “[But] I love the foods I CAN eat. I love spinach, lots of broccoli, eggs, avocados, cheese, MCT oil in my coffee, and I love Dr. Berg's pizza.”
She realizes that even in her 60’s, she still has lots of living to do and there’s no reason to settle down or get complacent. Many people have had incredible, life-changing weight loss using keto and IF, but Neville’s story is a reminder that whether it’s 10 pounds or 100 pounds, this lifestyle and this way to eat can improve health and enjoyment of life.
Favorite Way to Exercise: “Dancing of course!” she says. “Not only good for the body but good for the brain.”
Favorite Keto Recipe: Seafood Pho (a Vietnamese dish) using organic Bone broth, frozen seafood, broccoli, Tofu Shirataki Noodles and Siracha sauce. So simple and delicious!
