Christina Hadley's Story

Images Story

By: Christina Hadley

A doctor’s visit left Christina Hadley with startling results: high blood sugar levels and a weight of 214 pounds (97 kg). She told herself that the next Monday she would change her ways. The problem was, she didn’t know how.

An online search for how to be healthier led Hadley to Dr. Berg’s videos. “I started binge- watching them and that Monday I started things in motion,” she said. But Hadley admits that even so, the progress has been slow for her, especially since she sees so many success stories of quicker weight loss for others. “There are days that it may seem difficult and there are days you just want that cake,” she said. “You have to remind yourself you are beautiful, you are worth it, and your family is worth it. It isn’t a race, it is a life change so take it minute by minute if you have to, but the important thing is to not give up.”

The holidays were particularly hard for her; after they were over it took her months to feel like she was finally back on track with keto. “I have discovered that I’m an all-or-nothing kind of girl,” said Hadley. “I can’t do cheat meals or I get derailed.” With the lessons she learned from Dr. Berg, like having ten cups of vegetables per day, she is still making keto work.

At first, her husband was skeptical of the keto lifestyle but now even he is on board. He has lost 40 pounds (18 kg) and has lowered his cholesterol at the same time. Hadley has also seen success: she reports feeling more energetic and more attractive for her husband. “We should want to be the best version of ourselves not only for us, but also for the ones we love,” she said.

Since starting keto in January 2018, Hadley has lost 45 pounds (20 kg) and hopes to lose another 40 pounds (18 kg) to meet her goal weight. “[I didn’t want] to kill myself slowly by eating sugar and processed foods,” she said. “I was encouraged not to give up so that I wouldn’t have to see my blood sugars and pant sizes go up.”

Favorite Way to Exercise: “Walking outside,” said Hadley. “I hate the gym!”
