Camden B's Story

Images Story

By: Camden B

Camden B. was a self-proclaimed carb addict who loved pizza, bread, pasta, and soda. He was pre-diabetic by the time he was 15 years old and was always the largest of his friends.

“It was awful not being able to keep up,” he said. “I was honestly just tired of feeling overweight and not confident in my appearance.”

After doing research on how to lose weight, Camden found keto and Dr. Berg. It made him realize that most of the “traditional” weight loss and fitness plans didn’t make sense. From Dr. Berg, he learned to think of food as a route to health.

Camden is from the southern U.S., where people show love in the form of carb-filled foods like biscuits and gravy. So he didn’t get much support from his family and it was hard to stay consistent.

He said he had to re-train his brain to understand that carbs and sugars are “poisonous,” because they’d been seen as positives in his life for so long.

“Had I known a year ago what I know now, I’d have implemented a better fasting protocol and have rolled back the overall fat intake a little more to speed up my fat loss,” Camden said. “Though the results I got in such a seemingly short time really motivated me to keep going.”

Eventually, Camden noticed that he was developing the physique he’d always dreamed of. Along with feeling the best he’s ever felt, it was enough to keep him committed to keto.

At 17 years old, a year and a half after starting keto, Camden has gone from 5’9” and 188 pounds (85 kg) to 5’11” and 153 pounds (69 kg). His overall body fat percentage has dropped 14%. He said that every aspect of his life has improved.

“[My] health, fitness, weight, endurance, stamina, muscle mass, and confidence has skyrocketed over the last one and a half years,” he said. “To anyone who sees my success: it’s not because of my age. As long as you stay consistent and realize you’re both aiding your body while setting it free from sugar, you can do it and do it with relative ease.”

Favorite Way to Exercise: “My father is a Golden Gloves boxing champion,” said Camden, so naturally I follow in his hard-hitting footsteps, but I really enjoy some mid-weight lifting roughly two to three times a week while fasted to enhance the metabolic effect.”

Favorite Keto Recipe: Pasture-raised eggs, organic bacon, avocado, and homemade, slow-brewed Italian-roast cafecito
