Burning the candle at both ends

Story

By: Kent Taylor

I'll be turning 65 this year. I grew up in the age of Tang and Spaghettios and Velveta cheese. On Halloween, I would come home with a large pillowcase packed so solid with candy I could barely carry it! Needless to say, I had an unbridled high sugar intake through most of my childhood. My parents were oblivious to nutrition (as many parents were at the time) and so I led a great deal of my life with little or no concern to what I ate as long as it tasted good and through my working years sometimes even that didn't matter since much of the time it was about "filling the gap" with food I wouldn't normally eat because I had to get back to work. So, I suppose you can imagine all that neglect eventually caught up with me and I found myself at 60 with nothing left. I was depressed. I hurt everywhere!! I'm sure I pushed my adrenals to the limit. In fact, when friends would ask how I was feeling I'd tell them there's a small spot behind my left ear that isn't in any pain right now. I had spent the last 40 years working 10 to 12 hrs a day with erratic scheduling so even my sleep cycle was always interrupted, and for at least 30 of those years, my average sleep time was 4hrs a night (or day, depending on my schedule). After catching a few of your videos on sleep deprivation and also on insulin resistance, it became obvious to me my ignorance of such things was killing me! I consider myself to be a fairly intelligent person but to be honest, I feel quite foolish I never considered the effects of what I was doing to myself for so long. I have since watched dozens of your videos and even though surprisingly I've never been overweight, I am doing healthy Keto for all the other benefits. The information you have provided in your videos has made the quality of my life better in so many ways. I've even dealt with my SIBO (something I never knew anything about) which has also alleviated my depression. If there is anything I've learned from you it's that it is all linked and to not treat the symptoms. I used to pay $1000 a month for health insurance and I NEVER got nutritional advice from a doctor. In fact one time I had been suffering from heartburn so bad I had to sleep sitting up and so I finally found time to go to the doctor. I tell him my symptoms, he touches and pokes my stomach for a couple of seconds and then writes me a prescription for Pevacid. I asked him how long I am supposed to take them and he says "indefinitely". I think that was my waking up point when I knew there must be some other way to heal so I scoured the internet and thankfully among the many health videos I watched, yours were the most well presented and informative. And I also appreciate that you are not trying to hock some product on most of your videos. I get the sense that you actually "care". Hmmmm, what a concept. eh? Try getting that from most doctors. I thought my story was important because I know a lot of people in the same boat. They get set in their ways and are resistant to change at my age. They feel like crap but they think it's too late to do anything about it except take tons of medications. But I am here as testimony that even in our 60's our bodies can heal and feel great again! If you just know what to do! I have been doing intermittent fasting for almost a year now (18/6) and have eliminated sugar almost entirely from my diet as well as rice and potatoes etc.. For me the hardest one to correct was my sleep. My sleep cycle isn't 100% yet but I am sleeping about 7hrs. at a time so that's a huge improvement. I have also followed your recommendations on D3/K2 (40,000 IU) which made a very noticeable difference on my aches and pains. A lot of my friends have noticed a difference in me and I of course directed them to your videos as my source for health information. Thank you D. Berg for all you do. You've mad a difference in my life. Because of you I might actually live long enough to witness the impending apocalypse. LOL!!
